FAQ
What is a Stretchologist?
Stretchologist is a clinician who completes a rigorous training curriculum. Typically our Stretchologists have a strong foundation of experience or education in PTA, Kinesiologists, Exercise Physiologists, Massage Therapists, Personal Trainers and more.
What kind of certification or education does a Stretchologist have?
Each Stretchologist is certified through Stretch Smart Institution. The certification program includes multiple components, which include: anatomy & physiology, pathology, anthropometric measurements/assessments, the study of infrared and the most important component, the stretch method. Our curriculum has been developed by Arnie Kander, NBA strength and conditioning coach and Paul Carlesimo, DPT, OMPT.
Are there any medical conditions that would stop me from receiving a stretch?
Any client who is currently experiencing one of the following conditions must consult your physician for clearance before any stretch session can be booked. This includes current pregnancy, currently undergoing any type of Cancer treatment, less than 6 months after surgery, any systemic conditions that are in a current state of exacerbation (MS, SLE, shingles, etc).
I have recently recovered from an injury should I receive a stretch?
The type of injury and severity of the injury will determine if stretching is appropriate. Clearance from your physician would be required if there is a recent injury.
What should I wear to my appointment?
For best results, we recommend wearing something flexible & comfortable that allows us to give you the deepest stretch possible.
What can I expect 24 hours after my appointment?
People experience different reactions to stretching, especially if it is their first time. Muscle soreness is a possibility. Changes in the intensity of your stretch program can be adjusted accordingly, along with what stretches are performed. We encourage discussions with your Stretchologist so that they can create a program specific to your needs.
How often should I receive a stretch?
The frequency of stretching will vary from person to person. There are a large number of variables that your Stretchologist will use to determine a schedule that is proper for each client. We will give each client a chance to discuss their goals, which will also help us create YOUR program.
When should I arrive for my first appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to complete a brief intake form which tells us about yourself, specifically areas of focus and areas we should avoid.
Are Stretch Smart services covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, at this time Stretch Smart services are not covered by health insurance.
How is stretch different from a chiropractic adjustment?
Chiropractic adjustments are typically high velocity maneuvers of the spine or extremities. Our stretches are slow and gradual, determined by the tolerance of the soft tissue and the client.
